Yugi's grandfather runs a game store. One day Yugi learns of a very, very old Egyptian card fighting game called "Duel Monsters", In the game, different creatures battle in magical duels. Besides just battling themselves, they also have to contend with a changing battlefield that holds many dangers. When the battle is over, only one beast rises to be called Yu-Gi-Oh! (King of Games).
Along the way Yugi solves the secret of an ancient puzzle (Millennium Puzzle) and releases the spirit of an Egyptian King, Yami Yugi. With help from the King's spirit, Yugi sets out to become King of the Duelists. In the past Yugi led a mild mannered, quiet life. Now his friend, Joey, helps him deal with his much greater responsibilities. With Joey's help and the strong energy he receives from Yami Yugi, he is ready to face the challenges ahead.
One of his opponents, Seto Kaiba is very rich. Kaiba becomes very upset when Yugi beats him. He now wants to beat Yugi however possible. Kaiba and his younger brother Mokuba were raised in an orphanage. Kaiba promised to support and take care of Mokuba and appears to be easily able to do so as head of his own international hi-tech company, Kaiba Corp. But Kaiba focuses all his energy and business skills on Duel Monsters. He challenges Yugi.

Yugi Muto
If there was ever a kid born to play Duel Monsters, Yugi is that kid. While his fellow freshmen at Domino High School may only see him as the shy type, Yugi's best friends, Joey, Tristan, and Téa know about his secret talent.
When Yugi was growing up, his Grandfather gave him an ancient Egyptian artifact called the "Millenium Puzzle" to try and figure out. It is said that whosoever manages to solve this puzzle will be granted dark and mysterious powers. Yugi eventually was able to solve the Millenium Puzzle, and when he did, something amazing happened! The age-old powers of the puzzle flooded out and Yugi became Yami Yugi.
While Yugi, himself, may not know the full extent of the Millenium Puzzle's power, he's slowy discovering its mysterious links to ancient Egypt.

A Long Time Ago in Ancient Egupt a Young Prince Possesed A Millenium Item, Called The Millenium Puzzle. But One Day He Was Challenged To A Duel and LOST. The Duel WAs For The Millenium Puzzle. The Winner, Slysheen Would Use Its Power to Use Shadow Spells Called The Shadow Games To Destroy THe World. The Prince Had To Stop Him. The nly Way Was To DEstroy The Millenium Puzzle. The Pararoh, Siman Paradox Told him To Shader it On The Ground. He Did. But The Millenium Puzzle Also Took Him In A Time Worp To When Some One Solved The Puzzle. Then 10,000 Years Latter A Boy Named Yugi Solved it. Than The Prince Awakened To Creat YAMI YUGI. He Then Helped Yugi Beat Some Bullys And Win Almost Every Duel He Ever Dueled. Yami Yugi Was Able To Save Tea From A Bully Trying To Rob Her, And Open Seto Kaiba's Mind. He Belives in The HEART OF THE CARDS. THe Millenium Puzzle Possesse A Power Able To Send People To The Shadow Realm. He Did This To Panic, Seto Kaiba's Dark Half, Some Bullys, and Kaiba's Dark Side AGain. THe Millenium Puzzle Also Has The Feature To Put Peoples Souls Back To Where They Need To BE.
Yami Yugi Has Only Lost 2 Duels. Both He Should Have Won. The Frist One To Pegasous On A Time Limit Where The Sumond Skull Was Just A Little To Slow For The Time. This Is How Pegasus Won His Grampa's Soul. This Was Before He Descoverd The Power Of Puing Souls Back. THe Other is Agenst SETO KAIBA, THE GREATEST DUELIST IN THE WORLD. Kaiba Fretened That The Effects Would Knock Him Off A Cliff. YAMI YUGI Than Treied To Win But The Real Yugi Stoped it And Than Lost. It Was At This Point Yugi Muto Descoverd Yami YUGI. Before This Point Only Tea, Who Secretly Loves Yami YUGI, Noticed HIM. Yugi Was then Afried Of Him. And Freetined he Would Never Duel AGAIN. But Latter After Tea Beat MAI For 6 Star Chips And Gave Tham To Yugi Yugi Changes And Says He Will Have To Face The Conqenses of YAMI YUGI. LATTER AFTER Pegasus Beat Kaiba. Yami Yugi Warned Pagasus That He Should Not Be So Shar Of Winning To Him When They Duel.

Joey is Best Friends With Tristan. They Always Look Out For Each Other. One Day They Were Beat Up By A Bully. The Millenium Puzzle Had Just Been Solved. Yugi Uses its Power To Beat Him. Yugi Taught Joey How To Play Duel Monsters. Now Joey Is Playing For His Sister, Cerenity Who is Going Blind. His Parents Got Devorced When They Were kids. Joey Now Lives With His Dad. Joey Wants to Win The Prize money To Get His Sister An opporation To Get Her Eyes Fixed. He Is Basicly UnBeatable. He Has Lost To Tea, Kaiba, And Yugi. When He Loses To Yami Yugi He Also Looses The Tornament. But Yugi Gives Joey The Prize Money. He Has Beat Mai, Rex, Bones, Para, Dox, Bandit Kieth. His Best Card Is The Red EYEs Black Dragon. His Favorite Card Is The Flameswordsman. He Has Stolen Maco's Fish Becuse He Likes Food To Much. GRAMPA MUTO Taught Joey How To Use Magic, Trap, And Combos in A Duel.
Seto Kaiba
Kaiba is World Champion in Duel Monsters. He Owns All 3 Blue Eyes White Dragons in The World. He Has been Through A Lot His Parents Died And Him And His Brother Mokuba Went To An Orhanage. He Could Of Left Alot But Refused To Go Unless Mokuba Went To. After Awhile They Were Takin. THan He Inherited Kaiba Corparation. Now He Is In High School In The 9th Grade. He Has Only Lost Two Times. To Yugi He Was Beat By Exodia And Pegasous, By The Crush Card. Now At The Present Is Soul-less.
Tristan Taylor
Tristan Talor Thinks He Is Very Tough. He is A Very Weak Duelist. Tristan Is In The 9th Grade At Domino High School. Tristan Loves A Girl Named Mailk. Who Just Pretends He Is Not There. Tristan Is Always Standing Up For Joey Wheeler. He Met Joey The Same Time As Yugi. Tristan And Tea Snuch on To The Boat To The Duelist Kinddom Becuse They Were Not Invited Like Yugi Was And Joey Was Alowed On Becuse Yugi Gave Him A Star Chip.
Tristan Brought The "GREAT OUTDOORS SURVIAL GUIDE" To THe Duelist Kingdom. No One Was To Friel;d Aboult The Book And Joey Wanted To Eat It. In Sid Joeys Deck Their Is A Card Called The Lava Battle Gaurd. This Card Was Givin To Joey By Tristan. He Became Friends With Yugi After YAMI Yugi Saved Him And Joey From A Bully. Tristan Likes To Make fun Of Joey As Jokes. When The Characters Where Eating Food When MAI Was With Them When They Wanted To Stop Talking Aboult The Tornament THe Suggested They Make Fun Of JOEY. Tristan's Favorite Card Is The Cyber Comander. Joey Almost Was Not Alould Itn To The Castle Becuse He Had No Star Chips But Mai Helped Him IN.

Bakura is A Student in The 9th Grade in Domino High School. The Day He Moved In His Millenium Item Was Focused on Yugi's Mellenium Puzzle. Latter in The Show Tea Keep Seeing Bakura, And No One Else Did. Than one Night After Joey Beat Rex Rapter in A Duel For 2 Star Chips And A Card.(He Got The Red Eyes B. Dragon) Tea Had Heard Something in The Back While Yugi, Tristan , And Joey Where Doing Chores For Mai, She Was Getting A Shower, And The two Could Not See Anything. Latter That Night, After Mai Ran off, The 4 Were Eating and They Heard Something in The Bushs. It Was Bakura. He Said he Was in The Tornament too. (Pegasous Invited Him Becuse of his Millenium Ring) Than They Had A Duel So Bakura Could Show Every One What His Favorite Card, The Change Of Heart Card Dose. Than Yami Bakura Takes Over. Latter in The Duel Yugi Uses The Millenium Puzzle to Send Yami Bakura To The Card Grave Yard. Latter While Everyone is Sleeping Bakura Tells How He Got The Millenium Ring. He Says His Dad Was in An Eguptian Market And It Caught His Attention. The Market Man Said It Had Something To Do With Duel Monsters. His Dad Then Gave it to Him And Said He Was DEstined To Have iT. The Same Night After Yugi Defeted Panic For Mai's Star Chips, Yugi Noticed The Millenium Ring Was Pointing To Pegasous' Castle. They Than Descoverd It Was Atracted to other Millenium Items. And At The Time It Was Attracted to The Millenium EYE. Bakura Led The Group Throgh THe Underground Maze Tat Bandit Kieth Traped Them in. It Led Them To The Paradox Brother's Labret Field.
Isis Istar (Isizu)
Isis is the director of the Bureau of Archaeology in Egypt and a scholar in Egyptology. She was the curator of an exhibit in Domino City where she invited Seto Kaiba to view an ancient tablet showing the origins of the game of Duel Monsters, and how they came from Egypt. She also showed him the mural depicting the battle between the nameless Egyptian pahroah and the dark priest and the images of the three God Cards, Obelisk, Osiris and Raa. She is the one that "lends" Kaiba the use of God of Obelisk to lure out the other 2 God Cards from GHOULS. She herself does not seem to be a person of quick anger and is the type to be calm and cautious in situations. She posses the Millenium Tauk which can allow her to see into the past and into the future. She also duels a little bit but her main purpose so far seems to be to stop GHOULS from gathering all the God Cards.
Cerenity Wheeler
Cerenity is Joey's Little Sister. Their Parents Got Divorced When They Were Kids. THey Haven't Seen Each Other For Six years. Cerenity's Eyes Have Been Bad Since She Was Born. Soon She Will Be Blind. And Not Able To Fix Her Eyes Even With Surgery. But Right Now They Can Fix Her Eyes. But It Cost Millions Of Dollers. Now Joey Has To Go To The Duelist Kingdom and Duel With THe Heart Of The Cards. He Must Win The Prize Money. THen He Can Buy The Surgery. But He Fails. He Loses To Yugi. But After Yugi Beats Pegasus, He Gives The Prize Money to Joey To Fix Cerinity's Eyes.
Makuba Kaiba
Mokuba sees no evil in his big brother, Seto; these brothers are the only friend and family each other has since their parents died at an early age. Instead, Mokuba idolizes Seto and sees only his good side. Mokuba is so devoted to his big bro, that he's pledged to avenge anyone who crosses him.
Thea Gardner
Among all of Yugi's friends, Téa is the voice of reason. A childhood friend of Yugi's, Téa is also the biggest cheerleader in the group, always encouraging everyone to believe in themselves and to never give up. Téa loves her friends so very much and is willing to help them in any way she possibly can.
Grandpa
A former world traveler , Yugi's grandpa now owns the neighborhood gaming shop. Grandpa knows everything there is to know about games, but is especially well-versed in the ways of Duel Monsters. Grandpa teaches Yugi about believing in the "heart of the cards".
Maximillion Pegasus
Sophisticated and cultured, Pegasus is not only the ingenious creator of the Duel Monster's game, but seems to be a perfect gentleman, as well. However, Pegasus has many dark secrets. His left eye has been replaced with an ancient Egyptian artifact called the "Millenium Eye", a totem that gives Pegasus strange and magical powers. Pegasus modeled Duel Monsters after a mysterious Egyptian game thousands of years old.
Mai Valentine
Mai is as pretty as she is dangerous...and that's pretty dangerous! She's one of the top duelists in the world and fights for the riches that await only the best. Posh and frequently self-absorbed, Mai is not above using her charm to advance her situation. Though she plays for superficial reasons, Mai may yet learn from Yugi's example.
